FD 27: Direct Your Football Club does not give you a formation painter. It gives you four departments that have to mesh: sporting direction, medical, marketing and finance. Steam says it without poetry. Each department is staff with attributes, a performance score and a wage. You hire, you fire, and you decide how much talent you can actually pay. Version 0.1 already contains more than 1,500 employees. Tables highlight on hover. Keyboard shortcuts exist. None of that helps if you staff glamour and skip delay. Medical is delayed. Sporting direction: the list you are allowed to see

The sporting director studies the market and proposes names that fit the club’s needs and the club vision. The head coach sits beside that seat in spirit: periodic reports on fitness, development and recommended signings. You can leave those reports on, or you can take the work yourself in the setup responsibilities. Those toggles apply inside the save. If you tick them as flavour, a department later feels mute and you will blame a missing panel. Details sit on controls.

A barren shortlist is often a person problem, not a database problem. Fix this seat second on a teaching save because you can see the damage before Christmas. Incoming bids now open a full negotiation panel. Out-of-window signings were closed. Players previously out on loan, or belonging to other clubs, used to appear as if you could bid; the 14 August 2026 update made the interface filter them. Medical: the bill that arrives in February

Medical decides how quickly players return and how many single-day knocks become a revolving door. Traumatic injuries and short muscular ones both exist. A cheap physio in August is not a saving. It is a delayed invoice that lands when the fixture list is dense and the bench is a full-back at nine. Hire here first on League One or Segunda. Pair the people with the medical building so they have a room: facilities.

Marketing and finance: shirts, tickets, June

Marketing changes which brands will talk to you. Shirt, sleeve, shorts and stadium are four contracts, not a logo board. Undersell the shirt on day one and you lock a cheap number while reputation is still climbing. How to get sponsors is the negotiation. A dedicated message now fires when every slot is filled. Renewal bugs that left you staring at a dead commercial screen were patched.

Finance keeps the books from lying. Television, ticketing, merchandising, loans and assembly fines share the same forecast. The financial director can adjust ticket prices if you delegated that work. If you set cheap shirts as culture and then hired a greedy analyst, watch whether the prices bounce. Loans that finish a training ground can be rational. Loans that finish a striker follow you. Investment checks that ignored a new loan when reading the bank balance were fixed in the same August update. How to manage finances is the yearly shape. A club that wins in May can name the physio, the sporting director, the shirt, and the ticket policy. A club that bought a star and skipped medical will have a highlight reel and a treatment room that never empties. Version 0.1 already punishes that.
