FD 27 Direct Your Football Club How to Pick a Club in FD 27
The chair is the difficulty setting.
FD 27: Direct Your Football Club does not start on a tactics pitch. It starts on a purchase screen. The club you sit in is the first systems tutorial, whether you meant it that way or not. Version 0.1 offers England and Spain only: Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two, La Liga and Segunda División. That is six chairs, not a planet. Treat the list as a classroom, not a trophy cabinet.
Getting Started covers save slots and setup toggles. This page is the actual buy. Pair it with the club picks priority list and the club picker tool if you want a table instead of prose.
Experience mode versus Campaign mode
Experience mode does not charge a purchase budget for the chair. You can take what you like within the difficulty filter. Campaign mode removes that budget, so the menu shrinks immediately. Difficulty also gates which clubs appear. The easy giant and the hard League Two side are not the same sandbox with a different shirt colour.
If you came from Football Manager, this feels like a transfer embargo on your own ego. That is the point. How to play as owner already told you the job is hiring and money. A Premier League wage bill lets you ignore medical for months. League One does not.
Why a first save should hurt a little
Start in League One or Segunda if you want to understand FD 27 in one season. Every wage weighs. Every knock hurts. Shirt deals move the needle. A medical department that is cheap in August becomes a February story you can actually see. In the Premier League the television money is a fog machine. You will think you are good at transfers when you are just rich.
Championship and La Liga sit in the middle: enough money to make a star tempting, not enough to survive a stupid shirt contract plus a museum. If you insist on a giant, at least read how to manage finances before you promise anyone a superstar wage.
Spain versus England is not a flavour toggle. It is two pyramids with different fixture density and different sponsor markets. The database is the same idea: more than 6,000 players with position-specific attributes. A full-back who joins attacks is not the same profile as a full-back who sits. You will feel that more in a division where you cannot buy a replacement every week.
After you confirm the chair
Look at staff before the transfer list. The staff hire order is medical, sporting director, marketing, finance in a small division. Check facilities: if there is no academy building, youth coaches will not appear. See facilities. Fill sponsor slots without dumping the shirt on day one: how to get sponsors.
Set club vision to match the division. Youth and caution keep you alive at the bottom. Ambition without a wage plan at the top is how you become a cautionary save.
Responsibilities chosen at setup apply in-game. Do not tick them as decoration. Controls explains hover tables, sim speeds and the three save slots you should burn before a reckless contract.
The Early Access map is small on purpose. If missing Italy or a European night is a deal-breaker, wait for the roadmap 0.2 plan. If you want to learn the office, any League One or Segunda chair in v0.1 is already a complete lesson. Buy the giant later, when you can explain why last February went wrong.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for the boardroom questions owners actually search.
Should I start in the Premier League?
Not for a first save. A big budget hides errors. League One or Segunda makes wages, medical and depth readable in one season.
What is the difference between Experience and Campaign?
Experience lets you buy more freely. Campaign removes the club purchase budget. Difficulty also gates which clubs appear.
England or Spain?
Two pyramids, same office lesson. Pick the culture you want to reread every week, not the most famous shirt.
Where is the table comparison?
In the club picker tool and the club picks priority list.
